Pathway 1: Recognized Health Professionals and Recognized Breastfeeding Support Counselors
The list of Recognized Health Professionals include: Dentist, Dietician, Midwife, Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Pharmacist, Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist, Physician or Medical Doctor, Speech Pathologist or Therapist.
Pathway 1 also includes Recognised Breastfeeding Support Counselor Organisations like Baby Cafe, Vital Village, and local WIC programs.
Pathway 1 - 1000 clinical hours required before you register for your exam
Pathway 2: Accredited Lactation Academic Programs
Pathway 2 must complete an accredited lactation academic program that integrates the following in the curriculum and do 300 hours of clinical practice (with a mentor/mentors) before you register for the exam. The academic programs cost more money than pathway 3, but pathway 2 requires fewer clinical hours.
