Pathway 1: Recognized Health Professionals and Recognized Breastfeeding Support Counselors

Pathway 2: Accredited Lactation Academic Programs

  • Pathway 2 must complete an accredited lactation academic program that integrates the following in the curriculum and do 300 hours of clinical practice (with a mentor/mentors) before you register for the exam. The academic programs cost more money than pathway 3, but pathway 2 requires fewer clinical hours.

  • Here are two options for pathways 2 accredited programs for IBCLC pathway 2, with distance learning options:
